Kool Kat Shelter is a private cat rescue and cat adoption facility in Ontario, Canada. Abandoned cats, cats whose owners have passed away, cats whose owners can no longer keep them and unwanted kittens born to unspayed cats find their way to our (ahem) cat house. Once they become a "kool kat," their days of being alone, unloved and unwanted are over. We believe every cat and kitten deserves a chance to find a loving home. We are a Registered Canadian Charity (#89847 6015 RR0001), and wholly dependent upon donations by cat people. If you are looking for a furry little companion, please do view the cats available for adoption. If not, please take a moment to enjoy our CATalog. Every purchase or donation helps. www.koolkatshelter.org |

Welcome to Kool Kat ShelterAbout 15 years ago, Ruth Anne Naccarato opened the Kool Kat Inn because she was a true cat lover.Shortly after she opened her business, a well-meaning lady brought her a stray mom with her four very tiny kittens. Would Ruth look after them and find them all good homes? She did, and when the kittens had all been placed in new homes, Ruth had the mother spayed and eventually found a home for her too. Then came the boarding clients who, after having their cat for many years decided they did not want it anymore! Could Ruth find a new home for it? There came more strays, more abandoned cats and then her first "left-behind". A client brought is his 8-year-old cat to board at the Inn for a week. Ten days later, Ruth realized that the client had given her a phoney address and phone number and would very likely never be seen again." Over the years, this scene repeated itself many times, and each time, Ruth, the cat lover, accepted the challenge. Ruth would never have a healthy cat put down, and since adult cats are far more difficult to adopt out than kittens, her "family" grew. The food, litter, vet and all the other bills associated with properly looking after cats now also kept growing. And as per many ventures of love, at the end of each year, at tax time, there would not be even a penny available from the income she got from the Kool Kat Inn left for herself. All of the money went to looking after her ever-increasing "family." And yet, over the past 15 years Ruth did find new homes for over 500 cats and kittens! In 2000 someone suggested forming a charitable organization to help provide funds to look after these cats. And this became a reality with... KOOL KAT RESCUE AND ADOPTION which is a charitable corporation registered in the Province of Ontario and approved by the Federal Government of Canada. The purpose of the charity is to provide for stray, feral and abandoned cats and kittens in a no-kill environment. Initially, the charity will focus on helping Ruth cope with the more than 40 cats she now looks after. With your generous support we will be able to reach out to more of our feline friends who need our help.
